Launched in Summer 1974, the CX proudly represents the luxury Citroën. With front-wheel drive transmission and hydropneumatic suspension, it is voted Car of The Year 1975, a reward earned in more than one respect, thanks to the talent of its creators.
Robert Opron, already designer of the GS which inspired it, signs its fluid and aerodynamic external line. What is its special feature? An astonishing curved windscreen, together with a trunk without tailgate despite its hatchback shape.
Michel Harmand also surprises with the interior style, with the creation of a control panel all accessible without taking ones hands off the wheel.
The many versions, Station-wagon and Limousine/Prestige in particular, measure its long successful career. The CX departs in 1991 in favour of the XM appearing in 1989.
